<p>因为资金不足，留给DE的时间并不多。他们因此选择了一种小众的类型：快速刷短关卡的免费PvE游戏，而且主打合作模式，题材为科幻。</p>
<p>这是一次玩元。在当时的主流市场上，只有免费PvP游戏最具留存力，而PvE想要留存，必须有不断更新。DE之所以选择PvE，是为了不必与扎堆的PvP强者竞争，只要玩家喜欢上这个产品，公司里曾参与《虚幻》系列游戏开发的老兵们是有足够实力维持更新的。所以说这是一场豪玩。</p>

<p> 豪玩的结果是，发行商并不喜欢这款游戏。</p>
<p> 当时DE约见了很多发行商，其中一家看到游戏就说：“这是我见过的最棒的免费游戏，但你们会失败的。”科幻题材的免费PvE想成功，市场上没有先例。</p>
<p> 但发行商们没想到的是，星际仓鼠们喜欢这款游戏，通过玩家社群与Youtube给了官方极高的评价与反馈，让游戏正式起步。DE后来没有选择发行商，而是让游戏登陆Steam，到那时就已经不是起步，而是起飞了。《星际战甲》在Steam开始了长达5年的更新之路，每一步都走得相当成功。</p>
<p> 到现在，已经很难说《星际战甲》究竟是怎样一款游戏，它的基本玩法是第三人称TPS+动作，但它同时也是一个跑酷游戏、潜入游戏、无双游戏、卡牌游戏、养成游戏、换装游戏、开放世界游戏……它和市面上任何一款游戏都不一样，各种元素奇怪而有机地结合在一起，内容越来越深，需要很大的精力去研究。</p>
